Are you interested in a career in business librarianship? RUSA's
Business Reference and Services Section would like to encourage you to
apply for the BRASS Gale Cengage Learning Student Travel Award. This
annual cash award of $1000 will go to an outstanding library school
student interested in business librarianship in order to travel to the
American Libraries Association's annual conference, which will be held
in Chicago, IL July 9th – July 15th, 2009.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• The recipient must have a demonstrated interest in pursuing a
career as a business reference librarian and the potential to be a
leader in the profession. This may be
demonstrated by any of the following: course work,
internship, practicum, jobs, special projects, publications and/or
related activities.
• The recipient must be a student in an ALA-accredited library
school program.
• The recipient must not have been awarded a previous or concurrent
ALA sponsored travel award.
• Student must be willing to participate in BRASS activities at the
ALA Conference for which the award has been made and write a short
statement following the
conference on his or her experience to be published in RUSA
Update.
The award winner will receive:
• Cash award of $1,000 for travel expenses incurred at the ALA
Annual Conference to be held in Chicago, IL from July 9th - 15th,
2008.
• A one-year membership to ALA/RUSA/BRASS if the recipient is not
already a member.
• The opportunity to attend BRASS committee meetings,
presentations, and other conference events.
• Special award presentation at the RUSA Awards Program and
announcement of the award winner in all major ALA publications.
• Publication of his or her experience in RUSA Update.
